Joining the United Nations Global Compact signifies Avenga’s commitment to sustainable business practices. Our joining the UN Global Compact initiative means we will operate according to universal sustainability principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. Our participation will foster corporate responsibility, enhancing Avenga’s reputation and credibility in the global marketplace while contributing to the collective effort toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and to undertake steps to support UN goals. It is the world’s largest corporate sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiative, with more than 20,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders in over 167 countries.
We incorporate 10 principles into Avenga strategies and policies to set our basic responsibilities to people and the planet:
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labor; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
