In a significant stride towards fostering gender equality, Avenga proudly declared its commitment to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) at the beginning of 2023. This global initiative, spearheaded by the UN Global Compact and UN Women, encapsulates seven principles designed to promote gender equality and empower women across workplaces, business communities, and societies at large.
The WEPs serve as a comprehensive guide for businesses on promoting gender equality and empowering women in the workplace, labor market, and community. Established jointly by the UN Global Compact and UN Women, these principles are grounded in international labor standards and human rights. Recognizing the vital role businesses play in advancing gender equality, the WEPs provide a framework for companies to align with the objectives outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Marta Romaniak, VP of Global Branding at Avenga, highlighted the importance of gender equality in the workplace and women’s crucial role in the IT industry. She emphasized that Avenga’s commitment to implementing the WEPs is not only an ethical choice but also vital for the company’s success and the industry’s future.
We at Avenga understand the importance of gender equality in the workplace and believe that women have a valuable role to play in the IT industry. That’s why we commit to implementing the WEPs and joining the global community of companies advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. This is not just the right thing to do, but also critical to the success of our business and the future of our industry.

In 2023, Avenga participated in the UN Women’s Congress and ceremonially signed the WEPs, proudly becoming one of the 26 Ukrainian companies committed to these principles. Julia Broussard, Deputy Representative of UN Women in Ukraine, officially confirmed Avenga’s undertaking during the congress.
The congress brought together over 70 representatives of business associations to foster collaboration between the private sector, government, and local authorities and expand women’s rights and opportunities in the economic field. Avenga, among the 26 signatories, reaffirmed its commitment to actively promote women’s empowerment both within its organization and on a broader societal scale. This move aligns with Avenga’s core values and positions the company as a guiding example for others in the industry to follow.
As Avenga takes this step, it not only charts a course for its own success but also contributes to a more equitable and empowered future for women in the business world and beyond.
